Easy 5-ingredient, high-protein dinner that takes under 15 minutes to make

One of the biggest things I like to help my nutrition clients see is that food does not have to be fancy, beautiful, or take a long time to prepare.

Food is FUEL.

Our meals don't have to include super fancy ingredients, and we're not food bloggers so who cares how they look?

I wanted to share one of my go-to recipes that is high protein, time-efficient, and delicious: my spin on Asian lettuce wraps.

I usually keep ground meat in my freezer to pull out in the AM if I need something quick to cook later on, and the rest of the ingredients are staples that are pretty much always stocked in my pantry or in the fridge.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 16-oz package of lean ground chicken (turkey and beef work too) - the leaner, the better, so aim for 95-97% lean
  2. 4-6 tablespoons of coconut aminos - I get these from Trader Joes, most stores have it! Tastes like soy sauce but lower sodium and calories
  3. 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  4. Veggies of choice - I use 1 cup chopped mushrooms and 1/2 or full yellow onion
  5. Butter lettuce (or Bibb lettuce) heads

Instructions:

  1. Chop up all veggies
  2. Saute onions in 1 tbsp sesame oil. After you start smelling their aroma add the mushrooms. Cook for 5 minutes on low.
  3. Add ground meat, chop and stir around every couple of minutes. Cook on medium for 5-8 minutes.
  4. Add in coconut aminos and stir to combine. Allow the mixture to simmer for a few more minutes to soak up the flavor.
  5. While cooking, wash and dry your lettuce.
  6. Serve in a giant dish so that you can scoop your meat into your lettuce wrap family style, and enjoy!

BONUS: I usually add a veggie on the side for more fiber and nutrients. I love sauteed or air-fryer broccoli and it's super easy, but add your favorites!

Leftover turkey? Try this recipe ⬇️ Let's be honest - Thanksgiving turkey is everyone's least favorite Thanksgiving dish. BUT it's high in protein and very good for you. Every year when I have leftover turkey I make a big pot of White Turkey Chili. It's a similar recipe to White Chicken Chili, but with, you guessed it, turkey instead. Adding your leftover turkey to soup makes it flavorful + way less dry than the standard T giving dish. Scroll down for the recipe! Ingredients 2 tablespoons...
